In mid-October, Tallship Artemis departed from home port Harlingen for a grand adventure. The Artemis sails journeys with school children, combining school and life on a tallship. The itinerary consists of crossing the Atlantic Ocean and sailing in the Caribbean. Christmas will be celebrated in Paramaribo (Suriname)
Apart from the crew, four teachers and a doctor are on board to guide the youngsters. The youngsters develop from trainee to 'full' crew member in six weeks. An intensive programme, which fits well at a time when it is sometimes difficult for young people to find their place in society.
