Jubileumboek Staal en Vertrouwen nu te reserveren

In 2026 viert Tallship Company twee bijzondere jubilea: 100 jaar bark Artemis en 35 jaar Tallship Company. Ter gelegenheid daarvan verschijnt het jubileumboek Staal en Vertrouwen.

Een eeuw verhalen vastgelegd
Wij zijn ontzettend blij en trots dat het gelukt is om een stukje geschiedenis vast te leggen in dit boek. Niet alleen de geschiedenis van de Artemis en Tallship Company, maar ook die van de zeegaande chartervaart waarvan onze schepen al decennialang deel uitmaken. Veel van deze verhalen leven voort in herinneringen, foto's en persoonlijke ervaringen. Dankzij de medewerking van bemanningsleden, familieleden, bouwers, schippers en andere betrokkenen hebben we een deel daarvan kunnen vastleggen voor toekomstige generaties.

Staal en Vertrouwen vormt een belangrijk onderdeel van het jubileumjaar. Aan de hand van historische verhalen, interviews, anekdotes en uniek beeldmateriaal ontstaat een beeld van een wereld waarin scheepsbouw, zeilvaart, ondernemerschap en vakmanschap samenkomen. Het boek gaat over schepen, maar vooral over de mensen die eraan hebben gebouwd, ermee hebben gevaren en hun leven ermee hebben verbonden.

Van walvisvaarder tot tallship
De bark Artemis vormt de rode draad in het verhaal. Van Noorse walvisvaarder tot mijnenveger, van vrachtschip tot driemastbark: het schip beweegt mee met een eeuw van economische verandering, oorlog, wederopbouw en schaalvergroting in de scheepvaart. Tegelijkertijd vertelt het boek het verhaal van een Friese rederij die stap voor stap haar eigen koers heeft gevaren.

In 2026, Tallship Company celebrates two remarkable anniversaries: 100 years of the barque Artemis and 35 years of Tallship Company. To mark this special occasion, we are publishing the anniversary book Steel and Trust.

A Century of Stories Preserved
We are delighted and proud to have succeeded in capturing a piece of maritime history in this book. Not only the history of the Artemis and Tallship Company, but also that of the seagoing charter industry of which our ships have been a part for decades.

Many of these stories have survived through memories, photographs, and personal experiences. Thanks to the contributions of crew members, family members, shipbuilders, captains, and many others involved over the years, we have been able to preserve part of this heritage for future generations.

Steel and Trust forms an important part of our anniversary year. Through historical accounts, interviews, anecdotes, and unique photographs, the book paints a picture of a world where shipbuilding, sailing, entrepreneurship, and craftsmanship come together. It is a book about ships, but above all about the people who built them, sailed them, and dedicated part of their lives to them.

From Whaler to Tall Ship
The barque Artemis serves as the common thread throughout the story. From Norwegian whaler to minesweeper, from cargo vessel to three-masted barque, the ship has sailed through a century marked by economic change, war, reconstruction, and the growing scale of global shipping.

At the same time, the book tells the story of a Frisian shipping company that steadily charted its own course and grew into one of the leading names in the traditional sailing industry.
