"Our South Seas" is what the Danes lovingly call the enchanting mixture of endless sandy beaches, sparkling white chalk cliffs, countless islands and small harbors with colorful houses. You will be able to discover this beautiful world in an amazing manner, using sailing boat and bike. The attractive combination of sailing on a Tallship with bicycle tours in port is a completely different way of getting to know the Danish South Seas.

With the Atlantis we will approach different ports or bays and instead of exploring the area on foot, you can discover much more of the surrounding countryside by bike. Some of the bike tours do not end where they started. While you are on the way, the ship will sail to the next port and meet you there. That naturally increases the radius of what you can experience on the shore. In some harbors or bays the crew will use the dinghy to take you from and to the beautiful spot in which the Atlantis will be anchored.

For the bike tours we have a dedicated tour guide, who will take you to the most beautiful places and main attractions in the area. Before everyone leaves the Atlantis the tour guide will present the proposed route and explain the gradients, duration and the expectations for the weather on the day. You're always welcome to stay on board, if you like a rest day or just simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings you find onboard a tallship.

Travel itinerary:

Day 1: Kiel-Holtenau / Germany (embarkation)
The Atlantis crew welcomes you on board in the evening. Once you are settled in your cozy cabin, it's time for a small bite to eat, meet your fellow travellers and a welcome from the Captain, who will introduce the crew.

Day 2: Kiel - Klintholm / Island Møn (sailing day)
The next morning, it's time to cast off, hoist the sails and enjoy the towards Møn. The first day is all about sailing and you're welcome to assist the crew hoisting and trimming the sails or stand at the helm with our captain. Or you can look for a cozy place on the deck, relax and enjoy the view over the wide horizon. In the evening, the Atlantis will arrive in the small port town of Klintholm.

Day 3: Møn Island (43 km)
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, you will set out on a bicycle tour of about 43 km across the island. The highlight of the island tour will of course be the steep coast at the Store Klint with the famous chalk cliffs Møns Klint. The chalk cliffs in the east of the island are up to 128 meters high. Here you can let your eyes feast on the panoramic views over the Baltic Sea. Once all are back on board, Atlantis will set sail for Køge. Køge is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Denmark.

Day 4: Island Sjælland / Køge - Roskilde (36 km)
From Køge, south of Copenhagen, we cycle to Roskilde (about 36 km), which we reach around noon. The city is beautifully build in the winding Roskilde Fjord. We walk together to the famous massive cathedral, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage building. 37 Danish queens and kings are buried here. After the visit, it is time to stroll and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the harbor and the city. In the afternoon we will take the train to Copenhagen. Here we meet the Atlantis, which will be moored in front of the castle of Copenhagen.

Day 5: Copenhagen - visit to the Little Mermaid (about 25 km)
Copenhagen has many faces! The palaces and city islands, the colorful Christiania, the royal garden and the Rosenborg Castle, a charming old town and squares with a southern flair - the city takes the hearts of visitors by storm. Copenhagen is also one of the most cyclist-friendly cities in Europe. The city can be explored by bike or on foot, there will definitely be enough time for a stroll and for your own activities.

Day 6: Goodbye Copenhagen (sailing day)
In the morning, we wave a farewell to the little mermaid, who is sitting thoughtfully on a rock at the harbor, and sail northwards. The Danish Riviera on Öresund accompanies us a bit, as we set course for Samsø.

Day 7: Day Island Samsø / Kolby Kås or Ballen Havn - Tranebjerg (about 54 km)
Samsø, the sunshine island of Denmark, is almost unknown in Germany. The island has a very special charm. The island exudes peace and tranquility that we rarely find in this world. In the morning we use the dinghy to go ashore in Kolby Kås or Ballen Havn. On Samsø we cycle about 54 km to Tranebjerg and enjoy our lunch in Ballebjerg. In the afternoon we take a look at the archipelago in the bird reserve Stavens fjord and cycle back in the afternoon to the Atlantis to sail further south. We'll be moored in the port of Nyborg on Funen for dinner.

Day 8: Funen (Fyn) / Nyborg - Svendborg (45 km)
This morning our cycling route (about 45km) takes us out of the city along the imposing castle of Nyborg and we head south towards the sun. Our first stop is a mill overlooking the Atlantis, whilst she is leaving the harbor. We cycle along the impressive Holckenhavn Castle and at lunchtime we have lunch with a view of the sea! Continue to Skarupøre, where the crew takes you back aboard the Atlantis with the dinghy. Then you sail through the special Svendborg sund to the lively city of Svendborg. It's vibrant and cheerful in this natural harbor on the Sound. Street cafés invite you to linger and you're welcome to do so. The Atlantis will be awaiting you in the harbour when you're done.

Day 9: Island Ærø (about 40km)
This island depicts all of Denmark in pocket size. Small villages with tiny thatched, colorful houses are providing the lining of our about 40 km long way. The impressive steep bank at Voderup Klint with a panoramic view over the sea is a perfect place for a break. At noon we reach Ærøskøbing. Probably no place characterizes the romantic image of Denmark like the islands capital. Winding streets, meter-high hollyhocks and the market place with the old water pump. We will enjoy the village to the fullest before we return to Soby in the afternoon to set sail for Kiel.

Day 10: Kiel-Holtenau (Disembarkation)
After a hearty breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to the sailors and crew of the Atlantis. With a suitcase full of memories you'll be on your way home.

Biking Level 1 - 2

Easy tours in mostly flat stages of about 40 km on mostly quiet asphalt roads. In some places, agricultural trails are also used. Stronger main roads without a separate bike lane are only used in exceptional cases. Longer and steeper inclines do not occur on this trip, but you can expect a hilly landscape with constant ups and downs. Depending on the wind direction you may experience stronger headwinds at times. Instead of a bike tour it can be decided to fit in a sailing day. The daily program depends on the weather conditions and the instructions of the captain.

Wind and weather can influence the voyage.

Additional information:

• Bring your own bike. with you

• Luggage preferably in soft travel bags; hard suitcases are difficult to store in the cabins
• Expenses on board can be settled at the end of the trip

Atlantis

Aboard the ship you’ll be amazed by the generous and majestic appearance of the Atlantis. The spacious upper deck offers beautiful seating and a bar so that you can enjoy spectacular vistas and sunsets. The rigging gear contributes to a special atmosphere on deck.

Once in the comfortable salon you’ll discover the same spaciousness and atmosphere. You’ll get carried away to foregone times when the Atlantis served ad lightship on the Elbe by Hamburg. In each of the 18 cabins you’ll feel at home right away because the stylish panelling and the surprisingly spacious layout. The cabins are fitted out with two loose beds and each cabin has an en-suite bathroom with toilet and shower.

Barkentine Atlantis has a unique history. Guests continue to appreciate the grandeur and style of the ship throughout their travels in Europe.
