In recent years, more and more people have fallen in love with the beauty of the eastern part of the Baltic Sea. For this reason, we have included this area in our sailing programme for 2023.

The journey starts in Kiel Holtenau, one of the first members of the Hanseatic League.

"Our South Sea" is what the Danes affectionately call the enchanting mixture of endless sandy beaches, sparkling white chalk cliffs, countless islands and small harbours with colourful houses. You will explore this beautiful world with the barque Artemis.

Depending on the wind, the exact route will of course be planned shortly beforehand, but the crew's wish is to sail around Zealand and of course we also want to visit Copenhagen here. Discover one of the most impressive cultural metropolises in Europe and visit, for example, Amalienborg Castle, the "Little Mermaid" or stroll through Nyhavn with its pretty gabled houses and numerous restaurants.

On the way we hope to call at Samsø, this is the sun island of the Danes and has a very special charm.

Wind and weather can have a considerable influence on the course of the journey and make significant changes to the itinerary necessary. The captain of the Artemis has the last word. But even then there are enough beautiful alternatives in the Danish South Seas.

Note: Wind and weather conditions may affect the voyage considerably. If unforeseen circumstances make it necessary, changes may be made to the itinerary.

Artemis

The triple masted barque Artemis is a beautiful example of maritime tradition. The ship was built in Norway in 1926 as a whaler. Then she served as a freighter transporting goods between Asia and South-America. Since 2001 the Artemis returned to sail in european waters, honouring the great maritime tradition of the Netherlands.

The same maritime character contiues inside the ship. The Artemis has a stylish timber paneled salon with a typical ship bar and 2nd salon above decks with lovely sea views. The 16 comfortable cabins are finished in mahogany. Each cabin is fitted out with a bunk bed and has an en  bathroom with toilet and shower.

The perfect sail characteristics of the ship in combination with the comfort and luxury on board make the Artemis much loved by our guests.
