"Our South Seas" is what the Danes lovingly call the enchanting mixture of endless sandy beaches, sparkling white chalk cliffs, countless islands and small harbors with colorful houses. You will be able to discover this beautiful world in an amazing manner, using sailing boat and bike. The attractive combination of sailing on a Tallship with bicycle tours in port is a completely different way of getting to know the Danish South Seas.

With the Atlantis we will approach different ports or bays and instead of exploring the area on foot, you can discover much more of the surrounding countryside by bike. Some of the bike tours do not end where they started. While you are on the way, the ship will sail to the next port and meet you there. That naturally increases the radius of what you can experience on the shore. In some harbors or bays the crew will use the dinghy to take you from and to the beautiful spot in which the Atlantis will be anchored.

For the bike tours we have a dedicated tour guide, who will take you to the most beautiful places and main attractions in the area. Before everyone leaves the Atlantis the tour guide will present the proposed route and explain the gradients, duration and the expectations for the weather on the day. You're always welcome to stay on board, if you like a rest day or just simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings you find onboard a tallship.

Day 1 Kiel-Holtenau/Germany (Embarkation)
In Kiel-Holtenau the crew of the Atlantis will be waiting for you on board in the evening. Check in at 8 pm. You will move into your cabins and get to know the crew and the other passengers over dinner.

Day 2 Kiel-Holtenau, sailing to Bagenkop on the island of Langeland (approx. 15 km)
The destination of the first crossing is the Danish island of Langeland. After the first breakfast on board the Atlantis, set sail and enjoy the crossing. Around 3 pm you will reach Bagenkop, a tranquil harbour on the southern tip of the island. After a short introduction to cycling in groups, you will get a first impression of the country and its people on an afternoon cycle tour. On the way you will pass Langelandfoort, where a Danish control post was located during the Cold War.  You will then continue to a privately owned lighthouse, where you can take time for a short walk along the beach. With a little luck, you may spot some of Langeland's wild horses on the way. Spend the evening on board the Atlantis in Bagenkop harbour.

Day 3 Bagenkop - Svendborg (approx. 55 km/130 m)
After breakfast, you cycle northwards on the island of Langeland. A characteristic feature of Langeland are the hat-shaped hills that formed at the end of the last ice age and of which there are more than a thousand on the island. They ensure that your cycle tour is always a little up and down. At Rudkøbing, you leave Langeland via a bridge to the small island of Siø, which in turn is connected via a bridge to the somewhat larger island of Tåsinge. Here, Valdemars Slot (castle) and the lovely village of Troense invite you to stay a while.
Another bridge finally takes you to Svendborg on the island of Funen. Here, in one of Denmark's most beautiful towns, you will spend the night.

Day 4 Svendborg - Fåborg (approx. 48 km/220 m)
After breakfast, you cycle leisurely through quiet residential areas to the coast of Funen. The first half of the tour is almost flat and leads along the sea. The view wanders over to the island of Tåsinge and the numerous sailing boats that populate the narrow passage between the two islands. Towards the middle of the cycle tour, you leave the coastal region and begin the ascent into the so-called Funen Alps. But don't worry: what is called the Alps here reaches a height of a little more than 100 metres with some effort. Your path takes you past large farmsteads and impressive manor houses, and you may even meet your next Christmas tree on the way, as you pass the large tree nurseries with the popular Danish Nordmann firs.
You will end the day with a crossing through the island world of the Danish South Sea from Fåborg to Søby on the island of Ærø.

Day 5 Round tour of Ærø and crossing to Kiel Holtenau (approx. 36 km/200 hm)
Today you discover the enchanting island of Ærø by bike. The small seafarer's island has its very own charm and takes you back 100 years. In the early noon you reach Æroskobing, where you can marvel at numerous ships in bottles and explore the picturesque old town: small colourful houses, an idyllic market place with water pumps, half-timbered houses - a place where you can let your soul dangle. The route then takes you back to Søby, where the Atlantis is already waiting for you for a longer crossing to Kiel Holtenau. The Captains Dinner is the crowning finale of an eventful day.

Day 6 Kiel-Holtenau (disembarkation)
After breakfast in Kiel-Holtenau it is time to pack your bags and say goodbye to your fellow sailors and the crew of Atlantis. Check out from 9 am. With a suitcase full of memories and a full memory card in your camera you will start your way home.

Biking Level 1 - 2

Easy tours in mostly flat stages of about 40 km on mostly quiet asphalt roads. In some places, agricultural trails are also used. Stronger main roads without a separate bike lane are only used in exceptional cases. Longer and steeper inclines do not occur on this trip, but you can expect a hilly landscape with constant ups and downs. Depending on the wind direction you may experience stronger headwinds at times. Instead of a bike tour it can be decided to fit in a sailing day. The daily program depends on the weather conditions and the instructions of the captain.

Wind and weather can influence the voyage.
